Football in Tennessee

Yesterday, the mayor and the Titans announced their plan for Nissan Stadium. This would be a $2.1 Billion deal, the largest stadium price tag in the history of Nashville and the country. This has been a conversation for a while now. On March 15, 2022, my newsletter "Are You Ready for Some Football... I'm Not!" highlighted the first conversation surrounding a new stadium.

The proposed deal is comprised of a few funding options from different sources. The Tennessean reported the breakdown of the spending here.

• $840 Million - Titans
• $500 Million - State of Tennessee Legislation
• $760 Million - Metro Sports Authority (City of Nashville)

Cooper's administration wants to get this done quickly, however, we have not been presented with any formal details. The council has only received a letter and a media release from the mayor. There has not been any detailed conversation or correspondence from the mayor's office to discuss this and the ramifications it may or may not cause. I contacted the mayor's office yesterday requesting detailed information and what the real cost will be to tax payers. I also would like to know how and if this deal will directly help District 21. Please keep your eyes and ears open as tons of information will be flowing fast! As I mentioned, this is moving fast; the mayor and the Titans would like to have legislation in front of us by mid-November!

Early Voting Starts Tomorrow! Election Day is Tuesday, November 8!

There are several Elections and Commission appointments tonight. We will be electing to fill one vacancy on the Health and Educational Facilities Board. 

RS2022-1809 - This resolution accepts $100,000 donation to the Barnes Fund from LOCAL Nashville Hayes, LLC.

RS2022-1820 - A resolution honoring Senator Brenda Gilmore's retirement from the Tennessee State Legislature.

RS2022-1821 - A resolution honoring the 25th Anniversary of Thistle Farms.

Late Resolution - A resolution urging Nashville registered voters to vote NO on Tennessee Constitutional Amendment #1 in the upcoming November state and federal election.

BL2022-1434 - An ordinance to amend Title 17 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws, the Zoning Ordinance of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by changing from RS5 to R6-A zoning for property located at 907 30th Avenue North

BL2022-1439 - An ordinance to amend Title 17 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws, the Zoning Ordinance of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by changing from RS5 to R6-A zoning for property located at 725 25th Ave N

BL2022-1467 - An ordinance authorizing The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to accept new public sanitary sewer mains, sanitary sewer manholes and easements, for property located at 3021 Charlotte Avenue, also known as Haven at Charlotte
